Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake beautiful, tasty sweet yeast buns with apple and cinnamon in the oven at home? Prepare the ingredients for the dough. You may need a different amount of flour and milk - judge by the dough consistency. Take the butter out in advance so it softens. Take the egg out in advance too. Use instant yeast.
Step 2
Sift the flour into a bowl. This removes any debris and aerates it, making the baked goods lighter. Add sugar, vanillin (I used vanilla sugar), salt, and dry yeast. Mix the dry ingredients until evenly combined.
Step 3
Pour in warm milk (warm it slightly, but don’t make it hot - hot milk will kill the yeast). Add the egg. Mix the flour with the milk and egg.
Step 4
Then add the softened butter. If you didn’t soften it in time, microwave it for a few seconds.
Step 5
Work the butter into the dough. Now you’ll see what it needs - more flour or more liquid. If the dough is very sticky, add a bit more flour; if it’s too dry, add a little more milk. Knead until completely smooth. The dough will become glossy, elastic, and stop sticking.
Step 6
Shape the dough into a ball, cover the bowl, and leave it in a warm place for 1 hour. It will rise a bit, but not dramatically because there’s a lot of butter. After an hour, punch it down and leave it for another 1 hour.
Step 7
Prepare the filling ingredients. Choose fragrant apples. I used brown sugar, but regular white sugar works too. Add cinnamon to taste.
Step 8
Wash the apples, cut into quarters, and remove the core and seeds. Grate the quarters on a coarse grater.
Step 9
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F. Knead the risen dough briefly on the table, then roll it into a rectangle about 5 mm thick.
Step 10
Mix the sugar with cinnamon and sprinkle it over the dough sheet. Spread the grated apples on top. Don’t worry if it seems like there aren’t many apples - they’ll release lots of juice with the sugar. Roll the dough up into a log and seal the seam.
Step 11
Slice the roll into rounds 4-5 cm (about 1.6-2 in) thick.
Step 12
Line a baking sheet with parchment. Arrange the buns cut-side up. Lightly beat an egg for brushing with a fork.
Step 13
Brush the tops of the buns with the beaten egg.
Step 14
Bake in the preheated 180°C / 356°F oven for 30-40 minutes. Exact time depends on your oven. The buns should turn golden. Remove the buns and let them cool.
Step 15
Serve the homemade yeast buns with milk or tea. Enjoy your meal!
