Upside down plum cake

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Set aside.
Step 3
In another bowl, add the softened butter and sugar. Beat well until creamy.
Step 4
Add the eggs to the butter mixture one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 5
The mixture should become smooth and uniform in consistency.
Step 6
Add the vanilla and part of the flour mixture. Mix to combine. Then add the remaining flour.
Step 7
Mix just until no dry flour remains. The batter will be quite thick. Set aside.
Step 8
Cut the plums in half, remove the pits, then slice each half into thin slices.
Step 9
Line the bottom of a baking pan with parchment paper and grease both the paper and the sides of the pan with butter. Starting from the center, arrange the plum slices in a spiral pattern.
Step 10
Cover the entire bottom of the pan with the plum slices.
Step 11
Finally, spoon the prepared cake batter over the plums. Gently spread it out so the plums do not shift and are completely covered. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 50 minutes. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer.
Step 12
Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly, then transfer it to a serving plate. This will reveal the beautiful plum spiral pattern.
