Preparation
Step 1
How do you make steamed fish in a multicooker? Prepare the ingredients. I used congrio fish, also known as shrimp fish. You can use any boneless fish or any fish fillet. If your fish is frozen, thaw it beforehand.
Step 2
To prepare this dish, you will need a multicooker or a steamer. Pour about 200 ml / about 3/4 cup of water, bottled or filtered, into the multicooker bowl.
Step 3
Add the bay leaf; it will give the fish a pleasant aroma. If you do not like bay leaf or, on the contrary, prefer other herbs and seasonings, now is the perfect time to add them to the water. This could be allspice, thyme, rosemary, or even onion or garlic. In my opinion, dried dill and allspice go perfectly with fish, but choose seasonings according to your taste.
Step 4
Place the steaming rack over the multicooker bowl.
Step 5
Rinse the fish well, check once more that there are no bones, and cut off the fins if there are any. My fish is boneless, with only a clearly visible backbone that is easily removed while eating. Cut the fish into medium-sized pieces.
Step 6
Place the fish pieces on the steaming rack. Unlike meat, I recommend salting fish before cooking. This way it will not turn watery, but will stay tender and juicy. So lightly salt the fish.
Step 7
Place the bowl into the multicooker and cook in “Steam” mode until done. In standard multicookers, steaming takes about 10 minutes. Although fish cooks quite quickly, I recommend increasing the time to about 15 minutes. This fish is tasty both hot and cold. It is also very wholesome and very low in fat. Enjoy!
