Skillet Buckwheat with Chicken
A very tasty and simple budget-friendly dish for the whole family! Skillet buckwheat with chicken turns out very filling - an ideal family dinner or lunch. As it simmers with the meat, the grains soak up all the aromas and flavor. You’ll spend about 20 minutes actively cooking; the rest cooks on its own!

Preparation
Step 1
How to make buckwheat with chicken in a skillet? Prepare the necessary ingredients. You can use any parts of the chicken. I’m using chicken fillet - convenient because there will be no bones. You can use breast fillet or thigh fillet.
Step 2
Rinse the chicken fillet under running water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the meat into pieces - don’t cut too small. The chicken should be clearly felt in the finished dish.
Step 3
Use a deep skillet with a flat bottom and high sides. Pour in a little vegetable oil and heat it well. Add the chopped chicken and fry in the hot oil until golden. This will take about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally so it doesn’t burn.
Step 4
Peel the onion and carrot and rinse off any dirt. Cut the onion not too finely. Grate the carrot on a coarse grater. If you chop the vegetables too finely, they won’t be visible in the finished dish - they’ll simply break down during simmering.
Step 5
Add the chopped vegetables to the skillet with the chicken. Stir and sauté for another 3-5 minutes. The vegetables will release a pleasant aroma.
Step 6
Rinse the buckwheat several times separately, then drain all the water. Add the rinsed buckwheat to the skillet with the chicken and mix.
Step 7
Lightly season with salt and spices. Pour in hot water - there should be twice as much water as buckwheat. Even if you use less buckwheat than in the recipe, keep the ratio 1:2 (buckwheat:water). Cover with a lid, lower the heat, and cook for 15-20 minutes.
Step 8
After this time, the buckwheat will absorb all the water and become tender. Push the buckwheat aside a little and check if there’s any water left. If there’s no water, the dish is ready. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10-15 minutes.
