Preparation
Step 1
How to make a simple oven-baked yogurt pie with apples? First, prepare the ingredients. Use sweet-and-tart apples. Use all-purpose flour (highest grade). Melt the butter in advance and let it cool. It’s also delicious if you use softened room-temperature butter instead of melted. Use large eggs.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine yogurt, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract or flavoring. Use a higher-fat yogurt - natural and plain, or apple-flavored. To better control how the eggs are beaten, you can first beat the eggs with the sugar, then add the yogurt and vanilla.
Step 3
Beat everything with a mixer until fluffy. Add the melted or softened butter and mix.
Step 4
Sift the flour with the baking powder and add it to the batter in parts. You may need a little more or less flour depending on the consistency.
Step 5
Make sure the batter turns out soft and aromatic.
Step 6
Transfer the batter into a baking pan (8-9 in / 20-22 cm) lined with parchment and greased with butter, and smooth the top.
Step 7
Wash the apples, peel them, remove the cores, and cut into medium slices.
Step 8
Arrange the apples on top of the batter. If you like, cut some apples into small cubes and fold them into the batter, and place the remaining slices on top.
Step 9
Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 40 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. Watch so it doesn’t burn and bakes through. Check doneness with a skewer - it should come out dry.
Step 10
Remove the finished pie from the oven and cut into pieces. Inside it will be slightly moist because the batter contains yogurt and melted butter, so don’t expect a very airy “charlotte-style” crumb. The pie is soft, juicy from the apples, and aromatic thanks to the vanilla. Enjoy!
