Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Peel and rinse the potatoes. The original recipe uses 20% sour cream. Sift the flour to remove any lumps.
Step 2
To prepare the filling, heat a frying pan and add a little vegetable oil. Cut the potatoes into pieces. Peel and finely chop the onion. Add the potatoes and onion to the pan, mix and cook over low heat until the potatoes are partially cooked.
Step 3
Season the potato filling with salt and your preferred spices, such as ground black pepper.
Step 4
To prepare the batter, combine the sour cream and eggs in a bowl and mix well.
Step 5
Add the salt and baking soda. Gradually add the sifted flour while mixing. Do not add all the flour at once, as you may need slightly more or less depending on the thickness of the sour cream, the size of the eggs and the flour itself.
Step 6
The finished batter should be medium-thick, neither runny nor very stiff.
Step 7
Line the bottom of an 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Pour in half of the batter and spread the potato filling evenly over it.
Step 8
Pour the remaining batter over the filling. Bake in an oven preheated to 355°F for 30–40 minutes, adjusting the time according to your oven.
Step 9
The finished pie should rise slightly and turn golden brown.
Step 10
Remove the pie from the pan, cover with a kitchen towel and let it cool slightly. Serve as a snack or alongside your favorite soup.
