Ingredients
Preparation
Step 1
How do you make sandwiches with canned tuna and egg? Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Cut the baguette into even slices about 1.5 cm / about 2/3 inch thick.
Step 3
Place the baguette slices in a dry pan and toast them on both sides over lower-than-medium heat until golden brown.
Step 4
Transfer the prepared sandwich bases to a plate and let them cool.
Step 5
Peel the garlic clove. You can cut off a small slice from it to intensify its flavor and aroma.
Step 6
Rub the bread slices with garlic on all sides.
Step 7
Now you can prepare the filling. Transfer the canned tuna to a bowl together with its liquid. If the pieces are large, mash them with a fork into small pieces. Mine was already flaked tuna.
Step 8
Cut the gherkins into small cubes. My gherkins were very small, smaller than a little finger, so I simply sliced them into rounds.
Step 9
Hard-boil the egg, cool it, and peel it. Grate the egg on a medium grater or cut it into small cubes.
Step 10
Place the boiled egg, canned tuna, and pickled cucumbers into a salad bowl.
Step 11
Mix the mixture thoroughly. Add salt and pepper if needed.
Step 12
Place 1–2 tablespoons of the filling on each toasted bread slice.
Step 13
Decorate the sandwiches with gherkins and cilantro, then serve. It is best to place the filling on the bread just before serving, so the baguette does not become soggy and stays crisp. Enjoy!
