Preparation
Step 1
How do you cook salmon steak in a skillet? Prepare the necessary ingredients. It is best to use ready portioned steaks. If you have a whole piece of fillet, it is easiest to cut it into steaks while it is slightly frozen. That way, the cut will be neater and more even.
Step 2
Wash the fish steaks thoroughly so they are not slippery, then pat them dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Pour the soy sauce into a small bowl and add the sugar. Mix everything and leave it until the sugar dissolves completely.
Step 4
Pour the soy sauce over the steaks and leave them to marinate for 15-20 minutes. Do not marinate them longer, because the fish will absorb too much marinade and the fillet may start to fall apart during frying.
Step 5
Heat a skillet over medium heat. There is no need to grease it with anything, because salmon already contains enough fat, and the fish has also absorbed the sauce. Place the fish steaks in the skillet. If you have a grill pan, you can use that instead. If you want, you can brush the steaks with the soy-sugar sauce. Cook the fish over medium heat until a golden crust appears, about 6–8 minutes. Turn the steaks over and cook for 6 more minutes.
Step 6
Turn off the heat, cover the skillet with a lid, and leave the steaks in the cooling skillet for 10–15 minutes.
Step 7
Serve the salmon steaks hot. Enjoy your meal!
