Preparation
Step 1
How to bake a salmon steak in foil in the oven? This recipe doesn’t require many ingredients or effort. Prepare everything from the list. If the fish is frozen, take it out of the freezer in advance and let it thaw completely at room temperature. Fresh fish is ideal - it turns out even juicier than previously frozen fish.
Step 2
Rinse the steaks under cold running water and pat them very dry with paper towels. We’ll marinate the fish, so extra moisture is unnecessary.
Step 3
Season the steaks with salt, red and black ground pepper, and any favorite spices. For red fish, I most often use a blend of dried Provençal herbs (thyme, basil, marjoram, parsley, oregano). Be sure to add dried rosemary if you have it - these herbs are perfect for salmon and give an amazing aroma while baking.
Step 4
Lay out a sheet of foil. Place the salmon steak so the side already seasoned with spices faces down. Season the second side with salt and spices. Drizzle the steak with freshly squeezed lemon juice. Do the same with the second steak.
Step 5
Wrap the foil tightly so there are no gaps, forming a sealed packet. Place the packets in an ovenproof dish and leave for 10-15 minutes so the salmon marinates well. While it absorbs the flavors, preheat the oven. Bake for 20 minutes at 200°C (392°F) on the top/bottom heat setting.
Step 6
Remove the salmon from the oven, let the steaks rest for 5 minutes, and only then open the foil.
Step 7
Drizzle the cooked steaks once more with lemon juice, and garnish with herbs and a citrus wedge.
Step 8
You can serve them as is.
Step 9
Or place the fish on a plate and pour over the juices that collected in the foil during baking.
Step 10
Amazingly juicy and fragrant fish!
