Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. What kind of salmon is best for rolls? I recommend using commercially prepared, lightly smoked and lightly salted salmon. This type of fish is sliced with special equipment, so the pieces come out at the perfect thickness. Personally, I have never managed to slice pieces from a whole piece of fish that evenly. But if you can do it, that is great. If there are any bones or scales on the fish slices, remove them.
Step 2
Take a heaped teaspoon of cream cheese and shape it into a small log. Place the cheese on a slice of salmon. Do the same with the remaining pieces of fish. My salmon slices had long ends on one side. They would have made the rolls harder to work with, so I cut off the long, thin parts.
Step 3
Now wrap the rolls, trying to make one end stable and the opposite end shaped like a pretty rose.
Step 4
Pierce the salmon rolls with skewers from top to bottom at an angle, diagonally. Any small skewers will work, plastic or bamboo, like mine. The main thing is that they are sharp enough to pierce through the roll. Decorate the rolls with a lemon wedge and a fresh parsley leaf. If desired, sprinkle with sesame seeds and ground black pepper to taste. The appetizer is ready. Enjoy!
