Preparation
Step 1
You can use any parts of the chicken or cut a whole one into pieces. Choose long-grain rice since it doesn’t get mushy. You may use other rice varieties, but then adjust the water according to the package directions.
Step 2
Cut the chicken into small pieces. Peel and rinse the onion and carrot, then finely chop the onion and either slice or coarsely grate the carrot.
Step 3
Turn on the multicooker and select the “Fry” mode. Pour in a bit of vegetable oil. Add the chopped onion and carrot into the hot bowl and sauté for a couple of minutes.
Step 4
Then add the chopped chicken, stir, and fry with the vegetables for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally so nothing burns.
Step 5
Meanwhile, rinse the rice several times in cold water, then drain it thoroughly.
Step 6
Add the rinsed rice to the multicooker bowl and pour in hot water. Season with salt and spices to taste. Why hot water? Temperature shock can damage the bowl and isn’t good for the hot meat, plus it saves time since the multicooker won’t need to preheat the water.
Step 7
Close the lid and select the “Grain” (or “Pilaf”) mode for 25 minutes. When the multicooker beeps to signal readiness, let the rice rest under the lid for another 10-15 minutes. The time may vary depending on the model and power of your multicooker.
Step 8
Rice with chicken in a multicooker is ready! Serve warm and enjoy your meal!
