Puff Pastries with Apples
Incredibly tasty, budget-friendly, quick, and made from simple ingredients! These apple puff pastries from ready-made puff pastry can be made in different ways. I make them with caramelized apples, but you can use fresh or dried apples, or even fruit spread, jam, or preserves - not only apple - and the cooking time will be even shorter.

Preparation
Step 1
How to make apple puff pastries? First take the puff pastry out of the freezer and let it thaw at room temperature. Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Use sweet-tart apples. Wash them, remove the cores, and dice them.
Step 2
Heat a skillet until hot. Melt the butter in it and add the sugar. Watch so the sugar doesn’t start to burn. You can adjust the sugar amount a little depending on your taste and the sweetness of the apples.
Step 3
Add the diced apples to the skillet. Mix well. As you cook, the apples will release juice and it may look like the mixture has become runny.
Step 4
Keep simmering the apples over medium heat until the liquid evaporates and the apples become soft. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the apple filling cool.
Step 5
Lightly roll out the thawed, soft puff pastry and cut it into rectangles of roughly the same size. On half of the rectangles, make slits.
Step 6
Spoon a couple of tablespoons of apple filling onto the other half. Don’t be stingy - the filling is already reduced, so almost nothing will leak out during baking. Cover with the slitted rectangles and pinch the edges to seal.
Step 7
Place the pastries on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Brush the tops with egg yolk and sprinkle with a little sugar. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C (356°F) for 20-30 minutes. The pastries will puff up and turn a pleasant golden color. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Enjoy and share with family and friends. Bon appetit!
