Table of volume measurements:
- teaspoon - 5 ml
- dessert spoon - 10 ml
- tablespoon - 20 ml
- glass - 200 ml
Preparation
Step 1
How to make potatoes with canned beans and meat in tomato sauce? It’s very easy. Prepare all the ingredients from the list. You can use any meat; this time I used pork. The beans can be dry or ready canned. If using dry beans, soak them overnight, then boil until tender.
Step 2
Peel the potatoes, onion, carrot, and garlic. Rinse the vegetables and pat dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Cut the meat into small, evenly sized pieces.
Step 4
Dice the onion and carrot (or cut them any way you prefer).
Step 5
Cut the potatoes into small cubes or batons.
Step 6
Pour refined vegetable oil into a kazan or a heavy-bottom pot and heat it. Add the meat. Stir and fry until golden. Add the onion and carrot, stir, and cook for 5 minutes more.
Step 7
Add the tomato paste and finely chopped garlic. At this stage you can add 1/2-1 tsp sugar to balance the flavor.
Step 8
Mix well and cook for a couple more minutes.
Step 9
Add the potatoes to the pot.
Step 10
Salt to taste and add your favorite spices. I used sweet paprika, ground black pepper, and a pinch of thyme. Mix everything.
Step 11
Add a bay leaf and pour in water. How much water? If you want the dish to turn out like a thick soup, add a little more than 500 ml (about 2 cups / 17 fl oz) of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium and simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender. Keep the lid slightly ajar so steam can escape.
Step 12
Drain the liquid from the canned beans. Add the beans to the potatoes and meat, stir, and cook everything together for 5-10 minutes more.
Step 13
Potatoes with meat and beans are ready. Before serving, offer each person finely chopped fresh herbs.
