Potato Gnocchi with Chicken
Tasty, simple, and quick - a great alternative to mashed potatoes. Gnocchi are an Italian dish, similar to dumplings, but they are made not from regular dough, but from potato dough. Gnocchi are so easy to prepare that even a child could manage them.

Preparation
Step 1
I washed the potatoes well to remove any dirt and boiled them in salted water until done. I peeled the cooked jacket potatoes and grated them on a fine grater. I washed the chicken fillet well under running water and boiled it. I finely chopped the boiled chicken fillet.
Step 2
I combined the finely grated potatoes with the finely chopped chicken fillet. I added 2 eggs, 150 g / about 5.3 oz of sifted flour, nutmeg, and salt to taste. I mixed all the ingredients well.
Step 3
I placed the mixture on a floured surface and divided it into parts so the dough would be easier to work with. From each piece of dough, I rolled a log and cut it into small pieces. I rolled each piece into a ball and made a small indentation in the center with my finger, dipping my finger into flour each time so the dough would not stick.
Step 4
I boiled the gnocchi in boiling salted water with a little vegetable oil added so they would not stick together. I cooked them for 1.5–2 minutes, until they floated to the surface. I left the cooked gnocchi uncovered on a plate so they would dry slightly from the water; this makes it possible to fry them neatly.
Step 5
After the gnocchi were boiled, I fried them in vegetable oil in a preheated pan until they had a beautiful golden crust on both sides. During frying, I added a little butter, which gives a nutty flavor. Important: do not turn the gnocchi in the pan right away; let them brown a little first, otherwise they may fall apart.
Step 6
After frying, the gnocchi are ready. Serve them hot. The chicken can easily be replaced with any other meat you like, or with fried mushrooms. After frying, you can skip the cheese and simply dress them with fried onion. I hope you enjoy them. Enjoy!
