Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. Pat the pork thoroughly dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Step 2
Use boneless pork and cut it into large pieces of roughly equal size.
Step 3
Peel the onion and carrot. Cut the onion into half-rings or smaller pieces. Slice the carrot into rounds or sticks, or coarsely grate it.
Step 4
Heat a deep frying pan and add a little vegetable oil. Add the pork and cook until the pieces begin to turn golden.
Step 5
Add the onion and carrot to the meat. Stir and cook everything together for 3–5 minutes.
Step 6
Pour in hot water, cover the pan and simmer over low heat for about 1½ hours, until the meat is very tender. Season with salt and spices to taste; ground black pepper works well.
Step 7
Serve the pork with onions and carrots on its own or with your favorite side dish.
