Pike Fish Cakes in a Skillet (No Lard)
Very tasty, affordable, and appetizing, made from simple ingredients. Pike fish cakes in a skillet without lard hold their shape well, turn out firm yet tender, and don’t fall apart. Their firmness comes from durum flour made from hard wheat. Of course, you can also make these fish cakes with semolina or bread.

Preparation
Step 1
How do you fry pike fish cakes in a skillet without lard? Prepare all the necessary ingredients for pike fish cakes with durum flour.
Step 2
Carefully check the pike fillet for bones and cut it into pieces. Put the fish into a blender bowl and blend until smooth. If your blender is weak, remove the skin from the fillet - otherwise it may remain in pieces.
Step 3
Crack an egg into the bowl with the minced fish.
Step 4
Add softened butter to the fish and egg. Of course, this increases calories, but it makes the fish cakes tender and soft. Blend everything again until smooth.
Step 5
Transfer the fish mixture to a bowl, add salt and pepper, and mix.
Step 6
Add the durum flour to the bowl and mix thoroughly.
Step 7
Peel the onion and grate it on a coarse grater. Add it to the bowl with the fish mixture and mix. Let it rest for 15 minutes so the flour swells and absorbs excess moisture.
Step 8
Beat the fish mixture well: gather it in your hand, lift it over the bowl, and throw it back in. Do this 7-10 times - the mixture should become denser. Divide it into equal portions and place them into breadcrumbs.
Step 9
Coat in breadcrumbs and shape the fish cakes. You can make any shape you like. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment and chill for 30 minutes. Instead of breadcrumbs, you can use durum flour or semolina.
Step 10
Pour vegetable oil into a skillet, heat over medium heat, and fry the pike fish cakes on both sides until cooked through.
Step 11
Enjoy your meal.
