Preparation
Step 1
How do you make pearl barley with stewed meat in a multicooker? Prepare the ingredients. You can use any stewed meat, but it is best to choose homemade or a trusted brand. Before cooking, sort through the pearl barley and rinse it with warm water. It is best to soak the barley in cold water before cooking to shorten the cooking time. Soak it for 2-3 hours, using 2-2.5 liters of water for 1 kg of barley, about 2.1-2.6 quarts of water for 2.2 pounds of barley. The grain weight given is before soaking.
Step 2
Turn the multicooker to the Fry setting. Carefully open the can of stewed meat and mash its contents with a fork. Place the stewed meat into the multicooker bowl. Fry it with the lid open, stirring constantly, for about 5 minutes.
Step 3
Wash and peel the carrot and onion. Grate the carrot on a coarse grater and chop the onion as you like. Add the chopped vegetables to the multicooker bowl and fry them with the lid open for about 10 minutes. Do not forget to stir.
Step 4
Place the rinsed pearl barley into the multicooker bowl. Add salt and ground black pepper to taste and stir.
Step 5
Pour in 500 ml of hot water, about 2 1/8 cups, close the lid, and set the multicooker to the Stew or Porridge setting for 1 hour. When the cooking time ends, turn off the main program and leave the pearl barley in the bowl for another 10-15 minutes. You can turn on the Keep Warm setting.
Step 6
Serve the finished pearl barley with stewed meat hot. If you like, garnish it with fresh herbs. Serve this hearty porridge with a fresh vegetable salad and bread.
