Oven-Braised Pulled Beef
So tender it falls apart into strands on its own! Oven-braised pulled beef cooks at a low temperature for about 7 hours and turns incredibly soft and aromatic. Serve it with any side dish, or use it for sandwiches, burgers, or tacos.

Preparation
Step 1
How to make oven-braised pulled beef? Prepare the ingredients. If possible, use chilled (not frozen) beef - it will be more tender. Any boneless cut works. Choose spices to your taste; I used pepper, smoked paprika, and basil. Use refined oil. Preheat the oven to 150°C (302°F). This temperature is approximate - adjust to your oven.
Step 2
For baking, use a deep ovenproof dish: a pot, Dutch oven, or a high-sided baking dish. It’s best if it has a lid. If not, foil will work as a cover. Do not use a flat baking sheet - liquid will evaporate quickly, the meat won’t braise properly, and it will turn out dry. Rinse the beef and pat dry. No need to trim sinew or fat - they will mostly melt during the long braise. Place the pieces in the dish.
Step 3
Salt and season the meat on both sides. Pour in the vegetable oil. Rub the oil and spices all over the meat with your hands. Peel the onion and cut into large wedges. Add the onion to the dish with the meat.
Step 4
Tear off a large piece of foil and fold it in half. Cover the dish tightly with foil, crimping the edges to make an improvised lid. If you have a pot with a lid, simply cover it.
Step 5
Place the dish in the oven. Braise at 150°C (302°F) for about 7 hours. Time and temperature are approximate - adjust to your oven. Be sure to check the meat a few times during cooking. Remove the meat from the oven and uncover. Use two forks to shred the beef into strands - it will be very soft and easy to pull apart.
Step 6
Serve the pulled beef with a side dish, or make a burger with it, as I did. Enjoy!
