Easy
More than 1 hour.
Preparation
Step 1
How to bake homemade yeast cookies with sour cream (no margarine) in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Sour cream can be any fat content, but keep in mind: the higher the fat, the more calorie-dense the cookies. I used 25%. Take the sour cream and the egg out of the fridge in advance.
Step 2
Warm the milk slightly and add the yeast, 1 tablespoon sugar, and the sour cream. Adjust the sugar to taste. Mix everything and let stand 10-15 minutes to activate the yeast. The milk should be warm, not hot, or the yeast will die.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, crack the egg and lightly whisk with a whisk or fork until the yolk and white combine.
Step 4
Pour the egg into the yeast mixture and stir.
Step 5
Sift the flour through a sieve. This aerates it with oxygen and makes the cookies more tender and fluffy. Add the flour to the wet ingredients in portions, mixing well each time.
Step 6
You may need a little more or a little less flour than stated. Go by the dough texture: it should be soft but able to hold a ball shape.
Step 7
Leave the bowl with the dough in a warm place for about 1 hour. It should increase by about 1.5 times.
Step 8
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F. Dust the work surface with flour, place the dough on it (I divided it into two parts for convenience), and roll it out to about 0.5 cm (about 1/5 inch) thick. You can roll it thinner for crispier cookies.
Step 9
Cut out cookie shapes from the dough. I used cookie cutters. You can also use a glass or a small tumbler.
Step 10
Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (mine was silicone-coated). Brush the future cookies with vegetable oil and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 180°C / 356°F for 20-25 minutes, until they puff up and lightly brown. Exact time depends on your oven; 20 minutes was enough for me.
Step 11
Cool the cookies and serve. Enjoy!
