Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake stuffed potato in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Try to choose large, even potatoes without visible damage or green spots. You can use any herbs you like. I used dill, but parsley and green onion work very well too.
Step 2
Wash the potatoes very well under running water. Scrub them with a brush to remove all the dirt and sand. Then dry each potato thoroughly with a towel. Take some foil, tear off a piece about 50 cm, about 20 inches, long. Wrap the potato in it, pressing the foil tightly against the potato. You should get a neat little packet like this.
Step 3
Wrap all the potatoes the same way. Place them in a baking dish or directly on a baking tray. Put the dish with the potatoes into an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) for 60-80 minutes, using the top-and-bottom heat setting. The baking time depends on the size of the potatoes and on your oven. To check for doneness, pierce the potato right through the foil with a toothpick. A cooked potato should be pierced easily all the way through.
Step 4
While the potatoes are baking, prepare the filling. Wash and dry the dill well. Chop it finely.
Step 5
Grate the cheese on a fine grater. You can use any cheese, the main thing is that it should be natural and melt well.
Step 6
Take the cooked potatoes out of the oven, but do not turn the oven off.
Step 7
Using a sharp knife, cut each potato lengthwise right through the foil, without cutting all the way to the end. Open it into 2 halves. Do not remove the foil, because it will serve as a little plate later. Be very careful, the potatoes are extremely hot. Use oven mitts or pot holders.
Step 8
Using a fork, mash the flesh of the potato. Season it with salt and pepper.
Step 9
Add a piece of butter. Because the potato is hot, it will begin melting right away. Carefully mix the butter in with a fork.
Step 10
Sprinkle in the herbs. Add the grated cheese on top. Fill all the potatoes in the same way.
Step 11
Return the potatoes to the baking dish. Here I made a mistake. I closed the halves too tightly, and some of the cheese ran out during baking. It is better to use a larger dish and leave the potatoes open so the cheese stays on top.
Step 12
Bake the potatoes in foil for another 5-10 minutes, until the cheese melts. Serve the finished homemade stuffed potatoes immediately, piping hot. Enjoy your meal!
