Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake a pork roll in foil in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. It is best to use pork ham or neck in one piece, with a minimal amount of fat. Choose dried herbs to your taste. These can be Herbes de Provence, dill, cilantro; I used parsley with celery.
Step 2
Wash the pork and pat it dry with paper towels, then use a sharp knife to open the meat out into a wide sheet. To do this, cut it through the middle, but not all the way. Then open the meat out to both sides like an envelope. Do the same with all the thick parts: cut into them and open them out.
Step 3
Pound the resulting sheet of meat. Turn the oven on to preheat to 180°C (350°F).
Step 4
Transfer the pounded meat to a wide dish and pour soy sauce over it. During cooking, it will make the pork juicy and replace the salt. It will also give the meat a savory note. Add the juice of half a lemon.
Step 5
Peel the garlic and grate it on a fine grater, then add it to the dish with the meat. Rub the garlic and soy sauce over the pork with your hands.
Step 6
Sprinkle the meat evenly with the dried herbs.
Step 7
And with ground black pepper.
Step 8
Roll the meat into a tight roll with the herbs and pepper inside. If you are afraid the roll may open, tie it with kitchen twine or secure the edge with a toothpick.
Step 9
Spread out a large piece of foil and grease it with vegetable oil. Place the roll on it seam side down and wrap it very tightly. Make sure there are no holes or tears in the foil. Otherwise, the meat juices will leak into the pan and the meat will turn out dry.
Step 10
Place the roll in the hot oven and bake it for 45 minutes. Then remove it from the oven and leave it to rest in the foil for 10 minutes.
Step 11
After that, remove the foil, cut the pork roll into portions, and serve. It is delicious both hot and cold as an appetizer. This kind of roll will decorate any festive table.
