Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake pork in soy sauce in the oven? Prepare the ingredients. For this dish, you can use either leaner cuts with a minimal amount of fat, such as loin or ham, or fattier cuts, such as neck or shoulder, depending on your preference. I used pork loin. You can use black sesame, white sesame, a mix of both, or skip it altogether. Sesame does not add much flavor here so much as it adds a beautiful appearance.
Step 2
Wash the pork and pat it dry with paper towels.
Step 3
Prepare all the ingredients for the marinade. You can use either olive oil or sunflower oil. By the way, if you like the taste of natural aromatic unrefined first-press sunflower oil, I recommend using that. There is no need to add salt, because the soy sauce is already salty enough, and otherwise you may oversalt the pork.
Step 4
Peel the onion and chop it finely. Instead of red onion, you can use regular onion, but red onion will make the marinade a little milder in flavor.
Step 5
In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, vegetable oil, pork seasoning, sugar, and ground black pepper. Mix everything thoroughly.
Step 6
Add the chopped onion and the garlic cloves pressed through a garlic press.
Step 7
Place the meat in the bowl with the sauce and leave it to marinate in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours. If you do not have time to marinate it overnight, 1-1.5 hours at room temperature will also be enough.
Step 8
Transfer the pork to a baking dish and pour the soy-onion marinade over it. Some of the onion can be spread over the top of the pork.
Step 9
Cover the dish with foil. Place the pork into an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) for 40 minutes. The exact baking time depends on your oven. The main thing is not to dry out the meat. So if you know that your oven bakes more slowly than recipes usually indicate, it is better to keep the pork under the foil a little longer - 50 minutes instead of 40.
Step 10
Then remove the foil and bake the meat for about another 20 minutes until a golden crust forms, basting it periodically with the juices from the bottom of the dish.
Step 11
Five minutes before the end of baking, sprinkle the pork with sesame seeds and return it to the oven.
Step 12
Remove the finished meat from the dish, transfer it to a serving plate, and cut it into portioned slices. You can rub the remaining sauce with onion pieces through a sieve, pour it into a sauce boat, and serve it alongside the meat. Enjoy your meal!
