Preparation
Step 1
How do you make an oven-baked pork chop with mushrooms and cheese? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. It is best to use pork tenderloin or, as I did, boneless pork loin. Turn the oven on to preheat to 180°C (350°F) while you prepare the ingredients.
Step 2
Rinse the pork under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Cut the meat into two portion-sized pieces. Sometimes there is a thin white membrane along the edge of the meat. During frying, this membrane tightens the meat, and a large piece turns into a small bowl-like shape with raised edges. To prevent this from happening, cut the membrane in several places along its length with a sharp knife.
Step 3
Cover the piece of pork with a layer of plastic wrap and pound it well with a meat mallet on both sides. This breaks the bonds between the fibers, making the meat tender and allowing it to stay larger after cooking. Season the meat with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat it. Place the chop in the pan and fry it on both sides for 2-3 minutes. Remove it from the heat and transfer it to a plate. This method keeps the meat juices sealed inside. It allows the meat to stay juicy.
Step 5
Grease a baking dish with vegetable oil and place the meat in it. You can use any dish, but it should be slightly larger than the meat placed in it.
Step 6
Peel the onion and rinse it. To keep from tearing up while cutting the onion, hold it in cold water for a while. Finely chop the onion and place it over the fried meat. You can also use red onion, shallot, green onion, or leek.
Step 7
Wipe the mushrooms, I used button mushrooms, well with a damp cloth, cut them into slices, and place them on top of the onion. You can also use wild mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, or even frozen mushrooms, thawed beforehand and squeezed of excess liquid.
Step 8
Cover the onion and mushrooms with sour cream. Use natural, mild sour cream, then the meat will turn out tasty.
Step 9
Grate the cheese on a coarse or fine grater and sprinkle it over the top of the meat. You can use any cheese, but the sharper the cheese, the more piquant the chop will be.
Step 10
Place the dish with the chops into the oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) and bake the meat for about 40 minutes, until done. Keep in mind that the time is approximate and will depend on your oven, so it may take more or less time than it did for me.
Step 11
Take the pork chops out of the oven and serve them immediately. Any side dish goes well with these chops, but they are especially delicious with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables.
Step 12
Enjoy your meal!
