Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake pork belly with cheese in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can use any cut of pork, although I used pork belly, but it should be chilled meat, because freezing causes any product to lose a significant part of its nutritional value.
Step 2
Wash the pork belly, pat it dry, and cut it into pieces of any shape you like. They can be larger or smaller, as you prefer.
Step 3
Wash the tomatoes, remove the stems, and cut them into medium-thick wedges.
Step 4
Peel the onion and slice it into thin strips.
Step 5
Mix everything you have sliced. Add the minced garlic. I pressed one clove through a garlic press, but you can also grate it on a fine grater or simply chop it with a knife. If you do not have fresh garlic, you may replace it with garlic powder.
Step 6
Add the sour cream. Sour cream can also be replaced with cream or plain yogurt.
Step 7
Add salt. At this stage, you can also add any favorite herbs or seasonings: ground hot pepper or paprika, khmeli-suneli, or herbes de Provence. Or perhaps chopped fresh parsley or dill, or a sprig of thyme or rosemary.
Step 8
Prepare a heatproof baking dish. It is best if the sides are fairly high, because during cooking the meat will release juices and the dish will increase in volume, and you do not want the contents to spill over the edges.
Step 9
Place the meat mixture into the dish.
Step 10
Carefully arrange the tomato wedges on top.
Step 11
Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and spread it over the tomatoes. Do not pack it too tightly so the foil does not stick to the cheese. Cover the dish with foil. Place it in an oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) and bake until done, about 40 minutes. If you want a crust on top, remove the foil 10 minutes before the end of cooking.
Step 12
Serve the dish immediately while it is still hot. Enjoy your meal!
