- tablespoon - 20 ml

Preparation
Step 1
How do you bake pike with mayonnaise? Prepare the ingredients. You can use frozen pike (then thaw it in the refrigerator), but fresh is better. You can bake the fish whole on a bed of vegetables or cut it into portions. I cut off the head and tail to make fish soup, and used the rest for baking.
Step 2
Rinse the pike, remove the scales, cut off the fins, and gut it. If baking with the head on, remove the gills. Rinse the prepared fish well again and cut into portion pieces.
Step 3
If the pike lives in still or slow-moving waters, it often smells strongly of mud and algae, which affects the taste. To reduce this specific smell and flavor, keep the fish in a marinade. You can marinate it in lemon juice, but I prefer a mix of apple cider vinegar and soy sauce.
Step 4
Pour apple cider vinegar and soy sauce into the bowl with the fish and mix so the pieces are coated. Leave for 15 minutes, then drain off the marinade.
Step 5
While the fish marinates, prepare the vegetables. Peel the carrot and slice into rounds.
Step 6
Peel the onion and slice into rings.
Step 7
Peel the potatoes and slice into rounds as well. To make the potatoes tasty and juicy, put them in a bowl, lightly salt and pepper, and dress with 1 tbsp mayonnaise. Mix well.
Step 8
In a baking dish lined with parchment paper, pour in vegetable oil and lay onion rings on the bottom in a single layer.
Step 9
Spread the potato and carrot rounds over the onions.
Step 10
Place the pike pieces on the vegetable bed. Salt and pepper the fish and sprinkle with fish seasoning. If your seasoning already contains salt and pepper, add extra cautiously.
Step 11
Cover the dish with foil and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C / 356°F for 40-45 minutes.
Step 12
Remove the foil, drizzle the pike with a thin layer of the remaining mayonnaise (I do this using a piping bag with the tip cut off), and return to the oven for 15-20 minutes until a golden crust appears. Enjoy your meal!
