Preparation
Step 1
How to make meat casserole with potatoes? Prepare everything you need. Peel the potatoes and rinse off any dirt. Sour cream can be any fat content - it makes the dish juicier and more tender. I used cherry tomatoes, but any tomatoes work. Instead of sour cream, you can use mayonnaise or heavy cream.
Step 2
Use a glass or ceramic baking dish. Grease the bottom and sides with vegetable oil. Peel the onion and slice into half-rings (or a bit smaller). Spread the onion evenly over the bottom of the dish.
Step 3
Cut the peeled potatoes into pieces and layer them over the onion. Spread sour cream over the potatoes. Sprinkle with a little salt and spices.
Step 4
Cut the pork into small pieces.
Step 5
Spread the pork over the potatoes. Lightly spread a bit more sour cream on top. Season with salt and spices. For spices, I use a mix of ground peppers and a little paprika.
Step 6
You can add a few more potato pieces between the meat. Wash the cherry tomatoes, cut in half, and scatter over the surface of the casserole.
Step 7
Cover the dish with foil and place in an oven preheated to 180°C / 356°F. Bake for 45-60 minutes, depending on your oven. The potatoes and meat should become tender.
Step 8
Near the end of baking, prepare the cheese. I use a mild creamy cheese - I like its aftertaste in baked dishes. Grate the cheese finely.
Step 9
Remove the foil, sprinkle the casserole with the grated cheese, and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, until the cheese melts and lightly browns.
Step 10
The tasty, filling casserole is ready! Serve hot.

Enjoy!
