Preparation
Step 1
How do you make oven-baked bacon-wrapped mushrooms with cheese? Prepare the ingredients. Use smoked, cured bacon - it will give the mushrooms a pleasant aroma while baking. Use any cheese you like; the main thing is that it grates easily and melts well. Choose the largest mushrooms, keeping in mind they will shrink a bit after cooking. Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F.
Step 2
Rinse the mushrooms under running water to remove any dirt and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Step 3
Twist out the stem from each mushroom. On large mushrooms, the skin comes off easily, so it’s best to peel it. If it doesn’t peel easily, you can leave it on.
Step 4
Peel the onion and rinse it in cold water. Finely chop the onion and the mushroom stems.
Step 5
Heat a skillet until hot and add a little vegetable oil. Sauté the onion for 1 minute, then add the chopped mushrooms. Cook the mushrooms with the onion for 5-7 minutes. You can add salt and spices.
Step 6
Spoon the mushroom filling into the mushroom caps. Top each cap with grated cheese.
Step 7
Wrap each mushroom with a slice of smoked, cured bacon. Use any oven-safe dish; I use a ceramic one. Grease the bottom with vegetable oil and place all the bacon-wrapped mushrooms inside. Bake in the preheated 180°C / 356°F oven for 30-40 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven.
Step 8
As they bake, the mushrooms will shrink. The cheese will melt and the bacon will begin to brown. The mushrooms will release some juice. Remove the dish from the oven, transfer the mushrooms to a plate, and serve. Enjoy your meal!
