Preparation
Step 1
How do you make Number 5 Cake? First prepare the necessary ingredients for the cake layers. Use large eggs. Sift the all-purpose flour through a sieve to aerate it, so the layers turn out more delicate. Light-colored honey is best for this cake.
Step 2
Take a large nonstick saucepan and put in the butter and honey. Place the saucepan over the heat and warm it until the butter melts completely. Remove the saucepan from the heat. If the mixture has become very hot, let it cool slightly until warm.
Step 3
Separately mix the eggs with the sugar. There is no need to whip them.
Step 4
Stir the eggs into the warm melted butter mixture. Return the saucepan to the heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Stir constantly so it does not begin to burn.
Step 5
Stir the baking soda into the boiling mixture and remove the saucepan from the heat. When the baking soda is added, the mixture will foam and increase in volume. Leave the whole mixture to cool until warm.
Step 6
Then add the prepared flour and knead the dough. Do not add extra flour. It will make the dough heavier, and the baked layers will turn out tough.
Step 7
The finished dough will stick to your hands a little. Cover the bowl with a lid or towel and place it in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
Step 8
The chilled dough will no longer stick to your hands and can be rolled out into layers easily. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 9
Cut the number 5 out of a sheet of paper, about 30 centimeters, about 12 inches, high.
Step 10
Then cut the number 5 from the dough using that template. Prick the number all over with a fork so the dough does not puff up in bubbles during baking. Place the baking tray with the number into the oven preheated to 180°C (350°F) for 5-6 minutes. The exact time depends on your oven. The layers should become slightly golden. Bake 3 more layers in the same way. Cool the finished layers.
Step 11
To make the cream, you will need cream with at least 33% fat. Combine the cream with the powdered sugar and whip it into a fluffy cream with a mixer.
Step 12
The finished cream should be quite thick.
Step 13
Using a piping bag, pipe the finished cream over the entire surface of 1 cake layer. Place the second layer on top.
Step 14
Assemble the whole cake this way. Put the assembled cake into a box with a lid and refrigerate it for several hours so it absorbs well. Why put it into a box? This is necessary so that the moisture from the cream does not evaporate, but instead soaks into the cake layers.
Step 15
Decorate the soaked Number 5 Cake to your taste. Enjoy the treat!
