No-Cook Black Currants Mashed with Sugar

Preparation
Step 1
To make delicious black currant jam for the winter, prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Rinse 2 kilograms of ripe black currants in cold water, place them in a colander, and after all the water has drained, transfer the berries to a deep bowl.

Run about 1 kilogram (about 2.2 lb) of the currants through a meat grinder with a coarse plate into a suitable enameled basin.
Step 4
Add the sugar to the basin with the ground berries in portions.
Step 5
Mix the currants and sugar together well with a wooden spoon.
Step 6
Run the remaining currants through the meat grinder into the basin and add another portion of the sugar.
Step 7
Mix the sugar and berries together well.
Step 8
Add the remaining sugar to the basin with the mashed currants.
Step 9
Mix the currants that have been run through the meat grinder well with the added sugar, and stir from time to time for 1 to 2 hours until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 10
Prepare clean, dry, sterilized jars for the jam.
Step 11
Transfer the prepared jam from the basin into the jars using a funnel and seal them tightly with clean, sterile lids.
Step 12
Store the jars of prepared black currant jam in a dry, dark place. They can be kept at room temperature, but away from heating appliances.
