Preparation
Step 1
How to make mushroom goulash? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Use any mushrooms you like. I used button mushrooms. For goulash, I really like using small mushrooms.
Step 2
Peel the onion and carrot and rinse them under running water. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrot on a coarse or medium grater.
Step 3
Heat a skillet until hot and add a little vegetable oil. Sauté the carrot and onion over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, until the vegetables soften.
Step 4
Meanwhile, rinse the mushrooms thoroughly and cut them. Since mine were small, I just cut them in half. If your mushrooms are large, cut them into 4-6 pieces.
Step 5
Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet. Stir and fry for another 2-3 minutes.
Step 6
Then sift flour evenly over the mushrooms in a thin layer. Stir.
Step 7
In a separate glass, mix water with tomato paste. Pour it over the mushrooms and bring to a boil. Thanks to the flour, the mixture will start to thicken as it heats. Add salt and spices to taste. For aroma, add a bay leaf. Simmer the mushrooms, covered, over low heat for 12-15 minutes.
Step 8
During simmering, the mushrooms will shrink. If you like more gravy, add more water. Mushroom goulash with gravy is ready! It’s delicious with potatoes or pasta. Enjoy!
