Preparation
Step 1
How do you make mini buns in the oven? First, prepare all the necessary ingredients from the list. This time I made a cabbage filling.
Step 2
Since the dough is made very quickly, prepare the filling first. Slice the cabbage into thin strips; try not to make the strips long. The finer the cabbage is chopped, the easier it will be to shape the buns later. Peel the onion and carrot. Dice the onion finely and grate the carrot. Put everything into a skillet, add a little vegetable oil, 1 Tbsp tomato paste, a pinch of salt, and sugar.
Step 3
Mix, place on the stove, and cook covered over medium heat until the filling is done. It took me about 30 minutes. If needed, add a little water or tomato juice so the vegetables don’t burn.
Step 4
Make the dough. Melt the butter in a saucepan or metal bowl.
Step 5
Add cold milk to the hot butter and stir. Then add dry yeast, sugar, and salt, and stir again (the sugar and salt should dissolve). Leave the mixture for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Gradually add sifted flour to the butter-and-milk mixture.
Step 7
Knead the dough first with a spoon, then by hand. You may need a little less or a little more flour than the recipe states.
Step 8
The dough should turn out soft, elastic, and not stick to your hands.
Step 9
Divide the dough into 5-6 equal pieces.
Step 10
Roll each piece into a thin rectangle.
Step 11
Add the filling.
Step 12
Roll the dough with the filling into a tight log; press or pinch the seam.
Step 13
Dip the edge of your pinky and your hand in flour, and press the log with the side of your hand in several places, forming separate buns.
Step 14
Press firmly so the pieces separate from each other.
Step 15
Pinch the edges of the buns (if needed) and tuck them underneath.
Step 16
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the buns a short distance apart. Beat the egg in a small deep bowl with a fork or whisk. Brush each bun with egg using a silicone brush and sprinkle with sesame.
Step 17
Bake in a preheated oven at 180-220°C (356-428°F) for 20-25 minutes (time and temperature may vary depending on your oven). The buns should brown.
Step 18
Remove the baked goods from the baking sheet and serve while they’re still warm.
Step 19
Soft, tasty, and very appetizing!
