Preparation
Step 1
How to make Mediterranean salad with tuna, cheese, and avocado? Prepare all the ingredients listed in the recipe. Instead of Iceberg lettuce, you can use any leafy greens. Choose seasonal, meaty, juicy tomatoes - your salad will taste much better. For dishes like this, I usually use red onion or sweet white salad onion, as they’re milder than regular onions. Rinse the vegetables in cold water and pat dry with a paper towel.
Step 2
Tear the lettuce leaves into large, random pieces by hand or cut with a knife. Cut out the stem ends from the tomatoes. Dice the tomatoes into small cubes. Put the tomatoes and lettuce into a deep salad bowl.
Step 3
Cut the avocado in half lengthwise, remove the pit, and peel. Dice the avocado into small cubes or small rectangles and add to the tomatoes and lettuce.
Step 4
Drain the brine from the cheese, then cut the feta into small cubes or crumble it by hand. Slice the onion into thin half-rings or feathers. Gently flake the tuna with a fork so some pieces remain and it doesn’t turn into a paste. Add everything to the bowl.
Step 5
Add the olives. For a brighter look, I used both green and black olives. Rinse the herbs, pat dry, and chop finely. Fresh basil, dill, and parsley work well. Add to the bowl. Pepper to taste if desired.
Step 6
Toss the salad, let it stand for about 5-10 minutes, and serve.
Step 7
A tasty, filling snack is ready!
