Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the 2 required ingredients. The glaze is very simple to make and takes only about 5 minutes of active preparation before it is ready to use.
Step 2
Sift the powdered sugar through a fine-mesh sieve into the bowl in which you will prepare the glaze.
Step 3
Do not skip the sifting, as it removes any larger sugar crystals and helps give the finished glaze a smoother, more even texture.
Step 4
Rinse the lemon thoroughly and cut it into slices about ¼ inch thick. This makes it easier to squeeze out the juice.
Step 5
Squeeze the lemon juice into a separate bowl through a fine-mesh sieve. This will remove the pulp and seeds. You can extract the juice using any preferred method, but strain it before adding it to the glaze.
Step 6
Add some of the lemon juice to the powdered sugar. Begin with about one-third of the total amount. Mix on the lowest speed using a blender or mixer fitted with a whisk attachment. You can also use a hand whisk.
Step 7
Check the consistency of the glaze. Add more lemon juice gradually until it reaches the desired thickness. The mixture should not be too runny. Use the finished lemon glaze to decorate cupcakes and other baked goods.
