Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients. You can use crab-flavored chips or choose chips with another seafood flavor.
Step 2
Remove the wrappers from the crab sticks and cut them into small cubes. You can replace or supplement them with other seafood, such as shrimp, squid or lightly salted salmon or trout.
Step 3
Rinse and dry the cucumber, then cut it into small cubes. There is no need to peel it unless the skin is tough, damaged or bitter.
Step 4
Hard-boil the eggs, cool and peel them, then separate the whites from the yolks. Finely grate them into separate bowls.
Step 5
Drain the canned corn thoroughly and pat the kernels dry.
Step 6
You can mix all the ingredients in a salad bowl or assemble the salad in a 5½–6¼-inch serving ring to display the layers. Arrange the crab sticks as the first layer and drizzle with mayonnaise. Transferring the mayonnaise to a piping bag makes it easier to apply evenly.
Step 7
Spread the corn evenly over the crab sticks and drizzle with mayonnaise.
Step 8
Add an even layer of grated egg whites and drizzle with mayonnaise.
Step 9
Spread the chopped cucumber over the egg whites and add another layer of mayonnaise.
Step 10
Cover the cucumber with the grated egg yolks. Bright yellow yolks will make the salad look especially attractive. Do not add mayonnaise over this final egg layer.
Step 11
Arrange the crab-flavored chips over the yolks and refrigerate the salad for 10 minutes. If preparing it in advance, add the chips just before serving so they remain crisp.
Step 12
Carefully remove the serving ring before serving. Garnish the crab stick, egg, cucumber and corn salad with parsley or other fresh herbs.
