Easy
About 20 min.
Preparation
Step 1
How to make Jewish-style cheese spread? First, prepare the necessary ingredients. Use large eggs. If the eggs are small, it’s better to use 4. For the cheese, use firm processed cheese blocks (not soft spreadable ones), in small bricks.
Step 2
Hard-boil the eggs (about 10 minutes after the water comes to a boil), cool, peel, and grate on a medium grater.
Step 3
Grate the processed cheese blocks on a medium grater as well. To make them easier to grate and keep them from smearing, chill them in the freezer for 20 minutes first.
Step 4
In a salad bowl, combine the grated eggs and cheese, mayonnaise, and garlic pressed through a garlic press. Lightly salt and pepper.
Step 5
Mix thoroughly. Adjust the consistency to your taste. If the mixture seems too dry, add a bit more mayonnaise.
Step 6
Serve the finished cheese-and-egg spread with garlic right away, garnished with olives and herbs if you like. Or serve it on slices of fresh or toasted bread, on crackers, or with fresh vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, bell pepper, etc.). Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for no longer than 3 days. Enjoy!
