How to Cook Dumplings in a Multicooker
A tasty lunch or dinner in just 15 minutes. Dumplings in a multicooker cook even faster than in a pot because the bowl heats from the bottom and the sides. Simply add dumplings to boiling water and soon enjoy a fragrant, comforting dish.

About 10 min.
Preparation
Step 1
The ingredient set is standard: water, dumplings, salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Add any spices you like. Some people add whole peeled garlic cloves or a small peeled onion for aroma. You may also use a special dumpling seasoning mix.
Step 2
No need to thaw dumplings beforehand. Use any kind you prefer - beef, pork, chicken, or mixed. I used a beef-and-pork mix.
Step 3
Add salt, pepper, and bay leaves to the multicooker bowl. The exact spice amount depends on your taste, but avoid oversalting. Start with about 1 teaspoon of salt, then taste the broth before adding dumplings and adjust if needed.
Step 4
Pour warm water into the bowl. Room-temperature water works too, but will take longer to boil.
Step 5
Close the lid and select the Boil mode (mine is Boil/Beans; the mode name depends on the model). Set it for 10 minutes. My cooker heats to 230°F (110°C) on this mode. You can shorten the waiting time by increasing the temperature. My water boiled in about 8 minutes.
Step 6
If you increased the temperature, reduce it back to default. Carefully add the frozen dumplings to the boiling water, avoiding hot splashes.
Step 7
Close the lid and cook for another 5-6 minutes. My cooker cannot set minute-precise timing, so I set 10 minutes and turned it off after 4 minutes. Cooking time depends on your multicooker model - rely on your appliance and the doneness of the dumplings.
Step 8
During the first couple of minutes, stir the dumplings so they don’t stick to the bottom or to each other. If the water foams too much, reduce the heat. I simply opened the lid a few times to let the foam settle. Dumplings are ready when they float, the dough is soft, and the meat inside turns brownish.
Step 9
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the dumplings to a plate. Add butter if desired, sprinkle with black pepper, and serve with sour cream. You may also serve them with some broth. Enjoy!
