Preparation
Step 1
How do you make honey mustard sauce? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Use liquid honey. If your honey has crystallized, melt it first over a water bath. I use regular floral honey. With chestnut or buckwheat honey, the sauce will have a more robust flavor. You can use any mustard for this sauce. I used a hot mustard. The type of mustard affects the taste of the sauce. With hot mustard, it turns slightly spicy, while with a milder mustard it becomes sweeter.
Step 2
In a bowl or small dish, combine the honey, olive oil, mustard, and lemon juice, then beat everything until smooth with a mixer or whisk. At first, it is better to simply stir the ingredients so the olive oil combines with the honey and lemon juice, and only then start whisking properly. If you start whisking immediately without first mixing, the light olive oil may splash out of the bowl.
Step 3
Add salt and pepper to the sauce to taste and whisk again until the salt crystals dissolve.
Step 4
Pour the finished sauce into a special sauce boat with a spout.
Step 5
Store honey mustard sauce in a tightly sealed jar in the refrigerator for no more than 1 week. Enjoy your meal!
