Preparation
Step 1
How do you make simple homemade plum fruit leather in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Any variety of plums will work. Choose ripe fruit so the pits separate easily from the flesh. Plums contain enough pectin, so no additional thickeners are needed.
Step 2
Rinse the plums thoroughly, cut them in half, and remove the pits.
Step 3
Place the plums in a pot or saucepan with a thick bottom, cover with a lid, and put over medium heat. Cook the plums for about 15 minutes, until they soften and release their juice.
Step 4
Blend the plum mixture with an immersion blender until smooth.
Step 5
Add the sugar to the plum puree and mix well until it dissolves completely. Return the saucepan to the heat and cook the puree over low heat, stirring occasionally, for another 10–15 minutes. Preheat the oven to 100°C / 212°F.
Step 6
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Pour the plum puree on top and smooth it with a spatula, trying to spread the mixture evenly over the paper. Place the baking sheet in the oven preheated to 100°C / 212°F. Dry the fruit leather for about 4–6 hours with the oven door slightly open.
Step 7
Carefully cut the fruit leather into strips together with the paper. Remove the paper.
