Preparation
Step 1
How to make latte macchiato at home? Prepare the ingredients. If you have coffee beans, grind them in a grinder. If using ground coffee, measure 1.5 tsp. Freshly ground coffee is usually more aromatic. Use higher-fat milk, 3.2% or higher. I made two servings, so I used double the ingredients.
Step 2
Add the ground coffee to a cezve (Turkish coffee pot), pour in cold water, and place over low heat. Stir and heat until the coffee is just about to boil, but do not let it boil. Remove from the heat. If you like, you can bring it to the brink of boiling 2-3 more times, removing it from the heat each time.
Step 3
Strain the strong coffee through a coffee filter bag or a fine strainer to remove the grounds. Pour the coffee back into a clean cezve and return it to the lowest heat. This is so the coffee doesn’t cool down.
Step 4
Heat the milk to 50-70°C (122-158°F). The milk should be hot, but do not boil it; it should be cooler than the coffee. If you don’t have a thermometer, heat the milk until you see light steam rising, then remove from the heat.
Step 5
Froth the hot milk with a mixer or blender for about 4 minutes until a stable, fluffy foam forms. If you have a French press, you can froth the milk in it by moving the plunger up and down.
Step 6
Carefully pour the milk with foam into a clear glass mug with a handle. From the top, slowly pour in the hot coffee in a thin stream. Before adding, the coffee must be hotter than the frothed milk - only then, due to differences in temperature and density, it will settle between the milk and the milk foam.
Step 7
Sprinkle the finished drink with ground cinnamon and serve immediately. Enjoy!
