Preparation
Step 1
How to make Bounty-style candies with shredded coconut at home? Very easy! First, prepare the ingredients from the list.
Step 2
Pour the shredded coconut into a bowl. Add the sweetened condensed milk.
Step 3
Mix thoroughly. All the coconut should be soaked with the condensed milk.
Step 4
With damp hands, shape the mixture into evenly sized, smooth, oblong bars. I made 10 candies. You can also shape them into balls. Place the pieces on a firm surface lined with parchment paper and put them in the freezer for 30-35 minutes.
Step 5
Break the chocolate into pieces and place them in a small deep bowl. Melt the chocolate in the microwave or over a water bath, stirring occasionally with a silicone spatula. The melted chocolate should be smooth, runny, and uniform, without lumps or air bubbles.
Step 6
Dip the frozen coconut pieces into the melted chocolate, coating them on all sides. I did this using two forks. Some people skewer the pieces on wooden sticks, but mine kept spinning on sticks, so I used forks.
Step 7
Place the candies back onto the parchment paper and refrigerate until the chocolate fully sets. Instead of the fridge, you can put the candies in the freezer for about 30 minutes or a bit longer. Enjoy!
