Preparation
Step 1
How do you make ham and cheese pie? Prepare the ingredients for the batter. I recommend using richer kefir, at least 3.2% fat. Sift the flour through a fine sieve.
Step 2
Crack the egg into a bowl. Pour in the kefir. Add the baking soda and salt. Whisk everything until smooth.
Step 3
Add the sifted flour to the batter in portions. Keep in mind that you may need either more or less flour than stated in the recipe. Watch the consistency of the batter.
Step 4
Mix everything thoroughly. You should get a smooth, semi-liquid batter.
Step 5
Prepare the ingredients for the filling. You can use any ham you like. Choose any cheese as well, as long as it melts well. Wash the herbs and dry them with paper towels. I used parsley, but any herbs of your choice will work here.
Step 6
Cut the ham into medium cubes. If desired, you can trim off the crust and fatty layers from the ham, as I did.
Step 7
Grate the cheese on a medium or coarse grater.
Step 8
Finely chop the washed herbs.
Step 9
Add the chopped ham, grated cheese, and chopped herbs to the batter.
Step 10
Mix the mixture thoroughly.
Step 11
Transfer the prepared batter to a greased baking dish or one lined with parchment paper. If your dish is silicone, there is no need to grease it.
Step 12
Bake the ham and cheese pie in an oven preheated to 180–200°C / 356–392°F for about 30–40 minutes. Adjust the exact baking time and temperature according to your oven. The pie is ready. Enjoy!
