Preparation
Step 1
French-style potatoes with meat and mushrooms is easy and fast to make, yet very tasty and filling. I also love it because it combines a side dish and meat that cook at the same time!
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 180°C / 356°F. Slice the meat like for cutlets, but a bit thinner, and lightly pound it. Then season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Slice the onion into half-rings, and cut the potatoes into wedges, not too thick or large - it's important that the potatoes finish baking at the same time as the meat.
Step 4
Slice the mushrooms. Grease a baking tray or baking dish with vegetable oil.
Step 5
Layer the meat first, then the onion and spread with mayonnaise, add the mushrooms. Place the potatoes on top and spread with mayonnaise again.
Step 6
Bake in the oven for about 1.5 hours. To keep the meat tender and juicy, from time to time spoon over the juices that form, or add a little hot water. The heat should be moderate.
Step 7
15 minutes before it’s done, sprinkle everything with grated cheese. Cut the finished dish into portions, plate it, and garnish with dill. French-style dinner is ready!
