Step 1
How to make French-style pork with mushrooms in the oven? Prepare the needed ingredients. You can use any cut of pork, but meat with small fat streaks (ham/leg or neck) will be juicier and more tender. If using wild mushrooms, boil them beforehand.

Wash the meat and pat it dry well. Cut into pieces about 2 cm thick. Lightly pound each piece on both sides. You can cover the meat with plastic wrap to prevent splattering.

Salt each piece and sprinkle with aromatic herbs or any spices to taste. You can use a ready-made pork seasoning. Cover the meat and let it absorb the seasonings a bit.

Wash the peeled onion and slice it into half-rings.

Wash the mushrooms and dry them thoroughly. Slice them as you like.

Pour a little vegetable oil into a skillet. Sauté the onion over moderate heat until lightly golden. Don’t brown it too much, because it will continue cooking in the oven.

Sauté the mushrooms in vegetable oil as well, stirring occasionally, until lightly browned. Salt the mushrooms a little.

Place the meat pieces in a baking dish.

Spread the sautéed onion on top.

Then evenly add the mushrooms.

Wash and dry the tomatoes. Slice them into rounds or half-rounds. Lay the tomatoes over the mushrooms.

Spoon sour cream over the tomatoes.

Put the dish in an oven preheated to 190°C / 375°F for 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minutes. Cooking time depends on the meat and your oven. If the top browns too quickly, cover the dish with foil.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.

Remove the dish from the oven and evenly sprinkle with grated cheese. You can decorate with slices of sautéed mushrooms.

Bake for another 7-10 minutes until a golden cheese crust forms.
