Preparation
Step 1
Pour 250 ml of kefir into a bowl.
Step 2
Next add 0.5 teaspoon of baking soda. The kefir neutralizes the baking soda, because it contains acid, which reacts with the soda and releases carbon dioxide, helping the dough rise.
Step 3
Add 0.5 teaspoon of salt.
Step 4
Then add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the mixture.
Step 5
Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
Step 6
Then crack 1 chicken egg into the mixture.
Step 7
Add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil. Mix the mixture thoroughly again.
Step 8
Sift 450 g of wheat flour into the mixture. You may need a little more flour than stated in the recipe.
Step 9
Knead the dough. Do not overwork the dough with too much flour. The dough should be soft and tender. At first you can mix the ingredients with a whisk, and then, when the flour has absorbed most of the liquid, knead it by hand. To keep the dough from sticking to your hands, you can grease your hands with a small amount of vegetable oil.
Step 10
Dust the work surface with a small amount of flour and place the dough on it. Divide the dough into several pieces.
Step 11
Shape the pieces of dough into balls.
Step 12
Then roll out each piece of dough into flatbreads 5-6 mm thick, about 0.2 inch thick.
Step 13
Make small cuts in the center of each flatbread.
Step 14
Fry the flatbreads in well-heated vegetable oil over medium heat.
Step 15
Fry until golden brown on both sides. Remove the finished flatbreads from the pan. It is best to place them on a paper kitchen towel. The paper towel will absorb the excess oil.
Step 16
The fluffy flatbreads with kefir are ready. They can be served both cold and hot. Enjoy your meal!
