Preparation
Step 1
How do you make dry yeast dough for fried meat pies with water? Prepare the ingredients. Use all-purpose flour and any neutral vegetable oil. Before using the yeast, read the instructions on the package. There are different kinds of yeast: some need to be activated first by dissolving them in a warm liquid, while others can be added directly to the flour. Use the kind that needs to be activated.
Step 2
Add the sugar and yeast to the warm water, 37-40°C (99-104°F). Stir with a spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved. If you do not have a kitchen thermometer, you can determine the right temperature this way: place a drop of water on the inside of your wrist. If it feels neutral - neither cold nor hot - the temperature is correct.
Step 3
If the temperature is too low, the yeast will work more slowly and the preparation will take more time. If the temperature is too high, the yeast will die, the dough will not rise, and the taste of the finished dish will be spoiled. Add 2 tablespoons of sifted flour, stir, and leave for 10 minutes. The flour for the dough must be sifted so that small impurities are removed and the dough is enriched with oxygen, helping it rise well and turn out airy.
Step 4
If a fluffy foam cap appears on the surface, it means the yeast has activated and you can continue.
Step 5
For kneading the dough, take a deep bowl in which it will be convenient to mix dry and liquid ingredients. Sift the flour to remove small impurities and to enrich the dough with oxygen. Put half of the flour into the bowl. Add the salt and mix it with the flour so the dough is evenly seasoned. Make a well in the center of the flour.
Step 6
Pour the vegetable oil, vodka, and the yeast dissolved in water into the flour in small portions. Be sure to add the liquid ingredients to the dry ones, not the other way around. That way the dough will turn out best. Since flour of the same type but from different manufacturers can behave differently, add the flour in small portions to achieve the right consistency.
Step 7
When it becomes difficult to mix the dough with a spoon, start kneading it with your hands. Knead the dough thoroughly.
Step 8
The dough should turn out soft and tender, but it should not stick to your hands. Grease the bottom and sides of the bowl with vegetable oil so the dough does not stick to the bowl. Knead the finished dough lightly again with oiled hands. Cover the bowl with a napkin or towel so the dough does not dry out and rises well. Leave the dough in a warm place for about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Step 9
When the dough has increased 2-3 times in volume, it is ready and you can start shaping the fried meat pies. Shape them with your hands greased with oil or dusted with flour. But keep in mind that if there is too much flour on the pie, it will burn during frying.
