Crispy Waffles in a Waffle Maker
Thin, delicate, with an amazing crunch. A childhood favorite aroma! Crispy waffles in a waffle maker are perfect for breakfast or tea time. They can be rolled into tubes and filled with dulce de leche or whipped cream. Or they can be eaten as they are. They are delicious in any form.

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients. In my waffle maker, the waffles come out about 10 cm (about 4 inches) in diameter. One portion is one waffle. When calculating the number of waffles, take into account the features of your own appliance.
Step 2
Put the butter into a saucepan or a thick-bottomed pot. Melt it over low heat on the stove, in a double boiler, or in the microwave. Do not bring the butter to a boil.
Step 3
Remove the butter from the heat and add the sugar to the warm butter. Stir with a whisk until the sugar has completely dissolved. The sugar melts quite quickly from the warmth.
Step 4
Cool the butter until it is warm. It must not be hot, otherwise the egg may curdle when added. Crack the egg into the butter mixture. Mix the egg with the butter until smooth.
Step 5
Add the sifted flour and vanilla powder. You may need a little more or a little less flour than stated in the recipe. Judge by the consistency of the batter. Mix everything with a whisk until you get a smooth, even batter.
Step 6
Preheat the waffle maker according to its instructions. I use an old-fashioned electric waffle maker. It may not look fancy, but it bakes wonderfully. I do not grease the waffle maker with oil, because there is enough fat in the batter, and nothing has stuck to it for a long time. But check what works best for your model. Add the batter by the tablespoon. You can use a little less batter, then the waffles will be smaller and you will get more of them.
Step 7
Bake the waffles for a few minutes until golden. Open the waffle maker carefully, it is very hot. Remove the waffle with a spatula. When hot, it is very soft, almost like a crepe. But as it cools, it becomes firm and crispy. These waffles can be rolled into tubes. But this must be done immediately after baking, while the waffle is still soft and hot, otherwise it will break.
Step 8
Serve the waffles hot or cooled, with any jam, sour cream, or ice cream. They are excellent for breakfast or a tasty snack with a cup of tea or coffee. Enjoy your meal!
