Preparation
Step 1
First, prepare the necessary ingredients and spices for making this hearty appetizer salad for the festive table.
Step 2
For the salad–appetizer, take a small bowl and pour in two tablespoons of vegetable oil, which you can replace with olive oil. Add one or two garlic cloves pressed through a garlic press and mix.
Step 3
Cut two slices of wheat-rye bread. To let the bread soak up the garlic aroma, brush both sides of each slice with the oil-garlic mixture, then cut the bread into small cubes.
Step 4
Place a dry frying pan on the stove and heat it. Add the cubed bread and, stirring from time to time, fry until a crust forms.
Step 5
Put 200 g of canned cod liver into a deep plate and break it up into small bite-sized pieces.
Step 6
Add the toasted croutons from the pan to the plate with the cod liver pieces and distribute them evenly.
Step 7
Slice half a red salad onion into thin rings (you can replace it with white onion) and lay the rings into the same plate.
Step 8
Cut one boiled chicken egg into small pieces, then add them to the plate and spread them out.
Step 9
Add seven cherry tomatoes, cut in half, to the plate and decorate the salad with wedges cut from one quarter of a lemon.
Step 10
Finely chop green onion and dill to taste and add them to the salad. Then season with a little lemon juice, a mix of ground black and red pepper, and salt to taste - the festive salad is ready.
