Preparation
Step 1
How to make a cocoa milkshake? Prepare everything you need. Milk can be any fat content. Use natural unsweetened cocoa powder (no sugar added) for a richer chocolate flavor. For ice cream, you can use vanilla ice cream. For sweetness I’ll use sweetened condensed milk, but you can replace it with sugar.
Step 2
Pour a little milk (100-150 ml / about 1/2-2/3 cup) into a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Add cocoa powder and sweetened condensed milk. Stir well so there are no cocoa lumps and the condensed milk dissolves completely.
Step 3
Pour the hot chocolate mixture into a blender and add the remaining cold milk. This will cool the drink down right away. If you want it icy cold, chill the hot cocoa in the fridge or freezer first.
Step 4
Add the ice cream to the blender. Cover and blend on maximum speed. The ice cream will mix evenly into the drink. For an even more chocolatey version, you can use chocolate ice cream.
Step 5
A good amount of chocolate foam will form. The shake will be nicely cold.
Step 6
The cocoa milkshake is ready! Pour into suitable glasses and top with whipped cream. Tall, narrow glasses are ideal. Use straws for easy drinking.
Step 7
It’s a very tasty, refreshing treat with a rich chocolate flavor. Enjoy!
