Preparation
Step 1
How to make tasty, soft classic dough for manty with egg? Prepare the ingredients. The amount of flour is approximate; you may need more or less than stated, depending on the dough. Use room-temperature water.
Step 2
Take a large bowl, crack in the egg, add the salt. Lightly beat with a fork. It’s enough just to break up the egg; you don’t need to whisk it strongly.
Step 3
Pour in a glass of water and stir.
Step 4
Sift the flour into a separate bowl. This will aerate it and break up any lumps.
Step 5
Start adding the flour in portions into the bowl with the egg, stirring the dough with a fork. At first it will be liquid, then it will gradually thicken. Add the flour little by little, mixing after each addition. When the dough becomes not so liquid, transfer it onto a floured work surface and continue kneading by hand.
Step 6
Knead the dough for a long time until smooth. Add more flour as needed. You can also slam the dough firmly onto the table several times - it will become much softer and knead faster. You may need more or less flour than I did, so focus on the dough’s consistency.
Step 7
Shape the finished dough into a ball, cover it with a towel or plastic wrap. Leave it to rest for 40 minutes. During this time the gluten in the flour will develop well and the dough will become more elastic.
Step 8
Dough made by this recipe rolls out very well. It turns out both soft and not sticky at the same time. To make manty, roll it out into a thin sheet. Use a glass or special cutter to cut out circles.
Step 9
Place the filling in the center and shape the manty. Steam the manty for about 40 minutes.
