Preparation
Step 1
How do you make Chicken Cordon Bleu with cheese and ham? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Cut the ham and cheese into thin slices. Thaw the chicken breast beforehand.
Step 2
How do you pound chicken fillet? Take a boneless, skinless chicken breast. Cut it lengthwise with a sharp knife so you get two pieces. Place one piece between two layers of plastic wrap and pound it with a meat mallet, tenderizer, or the back of a knife. Pound all the prepared pieces of chicken in the same way.
Step 3
How do you add the cheese and ham filling? Place ham and cheese on each pounded piece of chicken. Adjust the amount of filling depending on the size of the fillet. The main thing is to use enough filling, but not so much that it falls out of the fillet.
Step 4
How do you roll the fillet? Roll everything into a tight roll using the plastic wrap on which the pounded meat is lying. Make sure the filling is completely covered by the meat. Do the same with all the remaining pounded pieces. Remove the plastic wrap from the rolls.
Step 5
How do you bread the rolls? Prepare three bowls. Put flour in one, breadcrumbs in the second, and crack the eggs into the third. Add salt and spices to taste to the eggs, then whisk them lightly. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, then dip it in the egg. Finally, coat the rolls in breadcrumbs. For a thicker crust, repeat all the breading layers once more.
Step 6
How do you fry and serve Chicken Cordon Bleu? Heat the vegetable oil in a pan. The amount is approximate and depends on the size of the pan. Fry the rolls over low heat. Turn them onto different sides so they cook evenly all around. Frying will take about 10–15 minutes on average. Serve the dish hot, with fresh vegetables or a side dish. Enjoy!
